Interior Design
Since qualifying with a design degree in the early eighties Michael has worked in the design and construction world. In his early career he was soon thrown in at the deep end running national roll-out programmes of shofitting for Sears PLC being heavily involved in getting 150 Fosters Menswear outlets open over an eighteen month period.
In the mid-eighties Michael joined the internationally renowned Canadian company DI Design where he and founding partner Paul Mollé where the only two staffing DI's new London office. During his career with DI Michael worked on national and international shopping centres gaining invaluable experience on how large multi-disciplinary projects work.
Once again he returned to the shopfitting world working in the role of job-runner on Pentos PLC's Athena roll-out programme in the UK, Holland and North America. Shortly afterwards, in the late eighties, he joined forces with an old friend and specialised in doing residential interiors for exclusive clients.
In the early nineties Michael joined KCA specialising in international hotel and leisure projects and royal palaces and yachts. He had senior involvement on many prestigious projects including seven successful projects for Hilton International, several for Sheraton, many for Jumeirah International including their first hotel The Jumeirah Beach Hotel, and their flagship, and unique hotel The Burj Al Arab. Michael is proud that he helped KCA deliver the entire Burj design package, concepts and construction documentation, in a mere six months from appointment. He was also heavily involved with several royal palaces in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and in the United Arab Emirates. Before leaving KCA he was heading-up the interior design services on the new 1.4 million square metres Terminal 3 and Concourse 2 Dubai Airport expansion for Dubai Civil Aviation.
Since leaving KCA he has been concentrating on his own work which includes refurbishment of a derelict mill in Touraine France, and several mews house developments. Current projects include the refurbishment of a private house in Highgate London with some of the best views in the capital and the refurbishment of a manor house in Warrickshire.
He has also been acting as an independent consultant to several London based interior design practices including Hayter Associates, Sidesign, and Opus 3 offering strategic business advice; helping them position themselves in the marketplace, improve their fee negotiation, get a better grip on their productivity, leverage technology and ultimately improve profitability.
